The Value of Friendship: Me and my best friend
Friendship is one of the most valuable relations in the life of humans. I was fortunate to have a friend like Yazan whom I have spent the last 10 years with. Our friendship has experienced ups and downs but has only grown stronger through the latter.
In fact, Yazan and I have shared many memories. We have traveled to new places and explored other cultures in hard times as well. There is always something special when one accumulates that much with someone. It feels like they're more than a friend; they are a part of your life's journey.
However, like every other tight relationship, our friendship is also not devoid of disputes. We do at times argue with Yazan about some trifling things and then over some serious ones. Sometimes we infuriate each other with some decisions or opinions; however, there is always something reminding us to be thankful for each other.
What makes Yazan so special to me is that even when we have disparities, he remains one big supporting shoulder in my life. He challenges what I think and encourages me to see things from a different perspective, and he helps me grow. Our arguments are not weaknesses in our friendship but proof that we respect each other enough to be truthful and open.
In the final analysis, it has nothing to do with always seeing eye to eye. It is about standing by one another when the waters get rough. Yazan, despite the myriad of differences, is a person that I value and hold close to my heart. I consider him a real friend for the simple reasons that true friends always stand by you through thick and thin, accepting your weaknesses and celebrating your strengths.
My friendship with all its imperfections declares how much I consider the other person and that's not something I would change for anything.
